How do you celebrate 100 years of Boise Airport hi

How do you celebrate 100 years of Boise Airport history in a single sign? It all started with a deep dive into the archives.

As we worked alongside the @boiseartsandhistory team, we spent hours digging through historic photographs and archival materials from the airport’s first 100 years. During that process, two elements immediately stood out: the original Boise Airport exterior signage and the beautifully designed architectural pillars that helped define the character of the early terminal.

Those historic details became the foundation for the design. We explored ways to blend the airport’s rich history with a modern interpretation that would celebrate a century of aviation in Boise while feeling right at home in today’s airport.

Once the early concepts were approved, it was time to shift from inspiration to execution and start bringing the design to life.

Big projects start with small prototypes. 👀

We’ve got a large parametric slat wall coming down the pipeline, so our team built this 2’ × 2’ prototype to validate our approach before fabrication begins. This miniature version allowed us to test different slot tolerances, refine the joinery, and dial in the perfect fit.
So, how does a parametric slat wall come to life?

It all starts with a 3D CAD model. That model is then sliced into the thickness of the chosen material, where the joinery and mounting system are designed. Next, the cut files are sent to our CNC router, which precisely cuts each piece. From there, it’s like assembling a giant 3D puzzle—slotting every component together until the flowing form begins to emerge.

✈️ Have you been through the Boise Airport lately?

If so, you’ve probably spotted the model airplane and retro-inspired hanging sign we had the privilege of designing, engineering, fabricating, and installing as part of the Boise Airport’s 100th Anniversary celebration.

The installation pays tribute to a century of Boise aviation history, with historical banners suspended from the airplane’s wings that invite travelers to learn about the airport’s evolution over the past 100 years.

While this timelapse makes the installation look quick, countless hours of design, engineering, fabrication, and teamwork went into bringing these pieces to life. From researching the airport’s history to assembling the full-scale airplane in our shop, this project challenged our team creatively and technically every step of the way.

The next time you’re traveling through the airport, be sure to arrive a little early and take a moment to explore the exhibit.

He shoots... HE SCORES! ⚽🙌

We finally had the opportunity to catch an @acboise match, and it did not disappoint. From the energy of the crowd to a beautiful Boise sunset and, of course, an AC Boise victory, it was an unforgettable evening.

What made it even more special was seeing the environmental graphic elements we engineered, fabricated, and installed come to life on game day. Watching fans gather around them, snap photos, and interact with the space was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. These installations do more than communicate information—they help create meaningful connections between fans, the team, and the space itself.

A huge thank you to @againsthq for the incredible designs and partnership throughout the project. Seeing everything come together and become part of the fan experience made all the hard work worthwhile.

And to top it all off—AC Boise brought home the win. We’d call that a pretty great night. ⚽🏆

Fabrication is cleared for takeoff! 🛫

Follow along as we build the model airplane created for the Boise Airport’s 100th Anniversary celebration.

With the design and engineering complete, the project made its way to the fabrication shop, where the team began bringing the concept to life. Each component was precision-cut from Baltic birch plywood on our CNC router before assembly began. Starting with the fuselage and working outward to the wings, every piece was carefully glued, fastened, and fitted together until the aircraft took shape.

Watching the airplane transform from a stack of plywood into a full-scale display was an exciting milestone. It’s projects like these that showcase the craftsmanship, collaboration, and attention to detail that go into specialty fabrication.

Transforming walls into experiences, one panel at a time.

The final element produced for the @acboise stadium is this custom accordion wall which was designed by @againsthq and developed, fabricated, and installed by our team. Built from vinyl-wrapped AluPanels mounted to strut channels, the installation creates a dynamic, dimensional experience from every angle.

But environmental graphic design is about more than materials and fabrication—it’s about shaping how people experience a space. These elements help create a sense of place, giving fans a backdrop for photos, celebrations, and memories they’ll look back on long after the final whistle.
